I'm Taiwanese-American, based in California, and spending most of my time somewhere between Vietnam, Indonesia, Taiwan, and China. Some trips are for work. Some are for people I love. Some start as one and become the other.
I write about food and place the way they actually happen -- mid-hike, exhausted, sweating through a shirt, a bowl of something you didn't plan to eat at the top of a mountain you climbed for a work retreat. My dad never got to see any of this. Sometimes I feel him most in moments like that, in the steam, in the view, in the food you didn't see coming.
The goal is never to make you want to go. It's to make you understand why it matters.
